If God wants all people to know His will, then wouldn’t He have written a very simple book that everyone could easily understand?
The majority of the Bible is easy to understand. It answers the question of what each person is responsible for in their life, and that they must know.
The primary reason many people do not understand the Bible is simply because they do not put forth a serious effort to read it.
Second, they allow others to tell them what it says, leaving them misled by their teachers. The Bible is filled with warnings about false teachers who will lead many away from the truth.
(2 Peter 3:16 KJV) "As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."
(2 Peter 3:16 WEBA) "as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction."
(2 Peter 3:16 YLT) "as also in all the epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, among which things are certain hard to be understood, which the untaught and unstable do wrest, as also the other Writings, unto their own destruction."
Third, the Bible is often difficult to understand because of the differences in language, scripture was originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
Fourth, because of differences related to the time and culture in which it was written it is difficult to visualize.
And finally, the use of confusing and inaccurate translations.
"Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart."
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (The bible interprets it's self if you just take the time to read and study it, all of it). In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
"I love them that love me; and those that seek (Study) me early shall find me".
"Hear, ye deaf (want to hear the truth); and look, ye blind (want to see the truth), that ye may see (and the spirit of God will be present to help)."
"And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."
"If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him."
"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
(1 Corinthians 2:10-14)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."
The Bible is not hard to understand, though some parts are, most of it is rather straightforward. God desires us to search His Word and to fully explore it.
Thought the Lord would like all to come to salvation and not see the second death, he is only accepting those that want to know and please Him, which involves studying and obeying.
